The Grind League is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt community-based organization. Our mission is to advocate for youth and young adults, host events, bring health awareness, empower, and promote resource information in pursuit of improving the experiences for people living and growing up in Lorain County, northeast, Ohio.
The Grind League is a community-based nonprofit organization in which the charitable purposes of the Corporation include promoting peace and unity by providing the youth and young adults of Lorain County access to food, positive experiences, resources, and the opportunity to participate in organized positive social activities and events aimed to encourage a healthy lifestyle and community togetherness amongst members of their respective communities.
Since 2020, The Grind League has intended to become a voice for the community and an access point of information, positive engagement, and awareness of resources to youth and young adults.
It began with a shift of mindset from Founder and Director Darius “DJ D*Grind” Winborn in 2019. The need for informative, fun, and positive engagement with young or youthful community members was dire in a city with high numbers of single-family, low-income homes combined with rich diversity.
Along with the lack of recreational activities and programs being facilitated to ages nine (9) to eighteen (18), this led to a meeting of minds, where a group of like-minded individuals from throughout Lorain County came together to provide a voice for those who are not heard or taken seriously by their inquiry to learn or request for development.
The GrindLeague has become that voice and point of contact for those interested in orwanting to be part of neighborhood community growth. In the first year ofoperation, The Grind League hosted its first community event, a Thanksgiving meal food drive, began volunteering at numerous local organizations,
D*Grind has took on roles as a job coach, mentor, youth-group leader, and supported high schoolers during their transition into adulthood post-high school. Collaborated and hosted youth Basketball and other activity leagues.
